Description: Dave Sikk 4tet
Dave Sikk – Harmonica and Vocals, Brian Parkinson – Double Bass, Aaron Entresz – Guitar, Fred Bradshaw – drums. Easy listening jazz and popular dance music with a sometimes humorous touch. Great Jazz – but also including material from such popular artists as the Beatles, Billy Joel, the Rolling Stones and many others.
Dave Sikk (harmonica and vocals)
Dave has played in a variety of line-ups in Tasmania and Melbourne over the last 20 years starting with a residency at Round Midnight club in Hobart. He has previously focussed on country style harmonica and on gritty Chicago blues, but is now playing exquisite jazz, rockabilly and continental music on the chromatic harmonica. Dave also has a silky, sophisticated voice to die for.
Brian Parkinson (double bass).
Brian has been playing live music for most of his life, starting as a bass player in rock outfits in Perth, Western Australia way back in the late 60’s. Now mainly playing double bass in jazz bands, as well as doing vocals, his other passion is mentoring young musicians involved in the College University music program in Tasmania.
Fred Bradshaw (percussion)
Fred is in fact one of Tasmania’s greatest and most highly respected saxophone players, with his own quartet. His smooth “West Coast” jazz style is well known around Hobart. In this band Fred has a break from sax and plays drums. Fred’s drumming, on a minimalist (and so not too loud) kit, is unbelievably tight and supportive.
Aaron Entresz (guitar)
Aaron is one of Hobart’s most brilliant jazz guitarists, working regularly around Hobart in numerous ensembles. His solos always earn him an enthusiastic round of applause from audiences. Musicians who ask Aaron to perform with them openly state that he is the best in Tasmania – and in fact up there with the best in the country.
