City of Hobart Highland Pipe Band

description

The City of Hobart Highland Pipe Band is currently the largest pipe band in Tasmania with over thirty playing members. They play at a number of community-based functions throughout the year, including ANZAC Day marches, Christmas parades in Hobart and Oatlands, and regional fairs at Bream Creek and Middleton. In addition to full band performances, the band can also provide solo pipers or mini-bands to add something special to any event. We are available for all occasions, whether weddings, funerals, corporate events, parties, fairs- and play at Salamanca Markets once a month (3rd Saturday of each month), often joined by the Bonnie Highland Dancers. The Band has a broad repertoire of marches, slow airs, strathspeys, jigs, reels and hornpipes. The Band can perform a combination of Scottish favourites and more contemporary pieces, including some Irish and Australian tunes. Drill and or dance can be incorporated into the performance to suit the occasion. The duration of performances can be varied to suit the event:- a typical performance is of 10 to 20 minutes duration.
