    Dance with Paint is a Painting and Music activity aimed at supporting individual artistic expression through dance/movement, music and paint. 

     

    Sessions include a brief introduction to Abstract Expressionist and Impressionist art, focused on individual modes of expression and personal approaches to visual art making. 

     Through a multi-layered painting process, participants engage with different mediums and painting styles to create their own painting in response to dramatic selections of music.

     Dance with Paint works for all ages, abilities  and needs of different groups, festivals and individuals. 

     Works of art can be solo or group pieces and participants can take their work home.

    Mr Beep is a children’s magician with experience at private parties, schools and playgroups, social club children’s events and commercial store and shopping centre promotions. His preferred audience is three to ten-year-olds. Mr Beep’s routine relies heavily on colours, numbers and story telling. Most of his effects use objects that are familiar to children …. beach buckets, balls, colouring-in books etc. Sometimes Mr Beep is assisted by his rotund but lovable ventriloquist pal, Rollie or Artie from Antarctica. Artie is a penguin with attitude!! And he has a great repertoire of new, silly and favourite songs and jokes for the kids to enjoy! Although there is a slight educational overlay to his act, Mr Beep insists that his emphasis will always be on fun !!

    Pelican Puppets have been performing puppet shows in every state and territory in Australia since 1994 at festivals, events, libraries, museums, shopping centers, agricultural shows and pre-schools. Two great glove puppet shows, based around the colourful English puppet character Mr. Punch and his friends, are performed from Pelican Puppets traditional style red and white striped compact theatre. This along with their portable PA system makes it ideal for any situation. Just a place for an audience to gather, sit and watch is necessary Each show is around thirty minutes in length and starts with a variety of puppets that come to life and interact with the audience to music followed by Mr. Punch and friends appearing in their colourful theatre. Fun for all ages. Show Descriptions Punch and Judy Laugh with Mr. Punch in his colourful adventures. Join in as this cheeky glove puppet sticks his large red nose into everything and then finds a way around the consequences. Meet his wife Judy and their baby. Then there is his friend Zac the clown, as well as Docs, Crocs and other puppet characters. Nothing gets in the way of Mr. Punch having fun. Zac “Ëśn’ the Box. When Zac the clown is left a magic box to look after by his uncle the Wizard and, at the same time trying to organise a cake for Mr. Punch’s birthday you have a recipe for laughter. Add a French chef, a swagman, the wizard, and mix thoroughly. Watch as the magic box causes mix-ups, muddles and magic.     Sea Shanties are work songs performed by sailors as they went about the repetitive daily tasks involved in operating sailing vessels. “Sea Shanty Circus” uses the metaphor of circus skills to emulate the work performed. Even the flags on the boat spell “circus”. They have performed at festivals including Port Fairy Folk Festival, The Taste of Tasmania and Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival (NZ). This is a unique interactive musical circus experience. With over 40 years combined experience in performing, Shannon, Mark and Felicity create their own world on their self-contained stage/boat/tricycle. Experience them roving around the site in a show full of sea shanties, circus, theatre and fun.

    Small Stories Project

    Small Stories Project provides and supports storytelling experiences for young children (0-5 years) and their parents and caregivers.-  It is a tailored performance that demonstrates oral storytelling involving the audience in participating in the story.-  Small Stories can be built upon with a puppet making/story telling workshop. Leigh, Kirsty and Roz collaborate in the Small Stories Project.-  Leigh and Kirsty presented their work at ITAC4 conference in New York, ArtPlay Melbourne and many Tasmanian communities. They are key contributors to ArTELIER a Tasmanian group of arts practitioners committed to quality arts engagement with children and young people. Small Stories relates to the EYLF Learning Outcomes and Key Principles.-  Providing an opportunity for children to experience this performance and workshop promotes Literacy, Cognitive, Connectivity, Dramatic Play, Language and Social skills, to name a few.-  Providing a valuable experience for children and educators. Kirsty Grierson has a background in puppetry and has toured nationally and internationally. She has worked as a facilitator, performer, community producer, workshop leader and director, independently, with performing companies and in communities and relishes new challenges as puppetry changes and evolves to incorporate new technologies and ways to support children’s learning and development. Leigh Tesch is a performing artist, and creative producer and co-ordinator of arts and community projects.-  She trained in performance, improvisation, clown, theatre for social change, storytelling and dance.-  She regularly performs as a Clown Doctor at the Royal Hobart Hospital, and works with communities, creating and performing quality children theatre and story experiences Roz Wren, is a Set Designer who has designed and created costumes, sets, puppets or props for most of Hobart’s theatre companies. In 2016 Roz won a Tasmanian Theatre Award for Set Design for Hobart Rep’s “ËśOn Our Selection’. The Small Stories Project Performances Tiny Tales– is an immersive sensory and theatrical experience especially for babies up to 18 months and their parents and carers. Small Stories Online–  for young children (3-6 years) and their parents and caregivers.-  Experience this adventure- in your own home as dining tables become landscapes in unknown places. Families will receive a video link to watch and children will receive materials in the post- to- create their own puppet creatures.-  – These creatures come to life when we meet in the online zoom workshop. Extend learning with Workshops The Small Stories Project offer various workshops in creative play- for adult caregivers- and children– with puppet making, shadow play, and storytelling. “‹ The SSP also offer Professional Development opportunities for educators and community workers about arts, story and development in the early years.
