B-rex

description

B-rex uses a foundation in dance mixing, combined with the turntablism skills from hip hop, to create genre blends & keep the mixes fresh & thumping. His scratch flow was inspired after supporting DJ Jam on two of his Australian tours, using the turntables to create a solid stream of energy, entertainment & excitement. Much like Peking Duk or Mash’d & Kutcher - both of which he’s supported, he mixes through old school bangers with new commercial & underground hits. It’s easy to show the versatility of his sets through a few of the other artists he’s supported, from Lil Jon to Dash Berlin, Hot Chip, Riton, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Alison Wonderland, North East Party House, The Wolfe Brothers & even Adam Lambert - the list is as varied as music itself.

B-rex has played in Tasmania’s main clubs & has industry experience spanning over a decade. He’s played to groups of 3 people & to crowds of over a thousand, always happy to roll with the punches & keep people entertained. Outside of the club he’s done live on-air mixes on both independent (NSB) & commercial (Sea FM) radio, bringing a unique flair for song choice to both. His latest mixtape reached #25 on the global melodic house Mixcloud charts, #9 in indie dance, #13 in bass house & #4 in the Australian Tech House. Under the moniker Hrolfssen he applies his Music Technology degree from UTas to writing & producing music as well. He is part of an original music duo alongside Brodie Rainbird (guitarist from The Wolfe Brothers) named King Be, with their music hitting over 100k plays on Spotify, as well as their music being placed into rotation on the radio (Edge FM).

Having learnt music from a young age B-rex uses a solid foundation in music theory to create something unique. Music can be used to make people on the dance floor escape, not just on an individual level but as being something greater than themselves, lost in the flow, drops & blends B-rex is the escapism coordinator
