MC - Louise Houbaer, 35 is the trusted face of 7 Tasmania Nightly News weekend television bulletins. Graduating from Tas Uni in 2015 with an Arts degree, specialising in Media, Louise has been with 7 since her graduation. Cutting her teeth as a reporter on courts and general news rounds before being promoted to the news desk, her experience presenting live television news honed her intuitive skills to think on her feet and respond to issues as they arise. With a comprehensive and intelligent understanding of local, national and international affairs, Louise, born and raised in Hobart, is a well-connected and popular media personality throughout Tasmania. Following matriculation, she worked as a flight attendant interstate before moving overseas, working in hospitality. She returned home after seven years to start her career in the media.

Respected, personable and grounded, Louise’s knowledge of community issues and her natural affinity with people, regardless of their background, ensures she brings to the news desk and to events she hosts, the gift of sharing stories and information that is important at a local level. She has a passion for promoting charitable causes and is experienced in hosting events, big and small from corporate, sporting, and celebratory functions. Regardless of the occasion, Louise always brings with her an engaging, can-do attitude and natural warmth that endears her to any audience. Married with two gorgeous children under 3, Louise’s sunny demeanour and infectious enthusiasm shines through when dealing with people from all walks of life.

Louise has been involved in numerous community projects over the years, including Big Hart, Share the Dignity, The Smith Family, and the Multicultural Council of Tasmania, and understands that community strength rests on the support of its strongest advocates.
