Murph has been the Weatherman at 7 Tasmania since 1984. He moved to Tasmania in 1982 to work at Radio 7EX which is when he started voice-over work for commercials and- program promotions at the TV station.

As well as the odd Dad Joke in the weather segment he has helped promote most, if not all of the state's major events and charities as well. He has been the MC for the Hawthorn Football Club President’s Lunches each time they play in Tasmania. The Community Achievement Awards, Tasmanian Tourism Awards, Tasmanian Hospitality Awards, Save the Children Ball, Motor Industry Awards are among other major events in which Murph has been involved .
