Yesterday’s Gentlemen is retro suit, hat and tie quartet inspired by jazz and blues gentlemen from yesteryear. YG Leader, guitarist and vocalist, “Eddo” Edmondson, blends these influences into a songwriting narrative shaped by his Tasmanian roots in surfing, rockabilly, retro cars and tattoos. Yesterday’s Gentlemen brew them into a gumbo rife with swinging jump jive, and soulful roadhouse blues.
Joining Eddo and hailing originally from New Orleans on keys and vocals is Steve Young, along with double-bassist, Olly “Papa” Plapp, and drummer Damo’ Oliver-Black, Yesterday’s Gentlemen play regularly around Hobart pubs, clubs and festivals, and have been the support act for Australian Legendary Band, Black Sorrows, and visiting American Rockabilly Veteran, The Reverend Horton Heat.
