    Matt Boden
    Matt Boden is a jazz pianist, composer, arranger, orchestrator and producer originally from Hobart, Australia.-  Having lived and worked in Melbourne, Berlin, Ningbo and Paris, Matt calls Hobart home once again. Matt has been the recipient of numerous awards, grants and prizes from various festivals and industry bodies.-  In 2011 he won the Australian Jazz Bell award for Best Traditional Jazz Album, with Leigh Barker and The New Sheiks.-  In 2008 Matt placed 3rd in the inaugural Boris Vian Concours du Jazz in Paris with his trio. He was a finalist in the 2013 Wangaratta Jazz Festival National Jazz Awards. Matt has lived and worked around the planet, with the longest stretch outside Australia being seven years in Paris, where he worked extensively as a performing and recording artist.-  Matt’s performing credits include work with international artists Peter Giron, Meow Meow, Gotye, Vince Jones, Doug de Vries, and Eddie “˜Boogieman’ Kirkland. Matt performs at leading venues and major festivals throughout Australia and internationally on a regular basis. These festival appearances include The Melbourne International Jazz Festival, The Adelaide Cabaret Festival, The Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues, The Stonnington Jazz Festival, MONA FOMA, Dark MOFO, The Paris Jazz Festival, The Jazz Pas Grave Festival (Paris), and The Ascona Jazz Festival (Switzerland).-  Matt has performed in leading venues worldwide such as Sunset/Sunside (Paris), A-Trane (Berlin), Caveau de la Huchette (Paris), CJW (Shanghai), The Paris Cat, Bennetts Lane, and The BMW Edge (Melbourne). Matt is continually interested in the development of the musical community in Australia, and is co-curator of the Hobart jazz club Sixty Jazz Club which presents local, national and international artists.

    Matt has been performing for 10 years in the Hobart live music scene, He has joined many cover bands, often alongside his family members. His current bands are Matt & Abby, Westwood & Doyle, Westwood & Doyle Trio, West of Abby and part of an original group Lennon Wells. Matt’s style as a solo act falls between relaxing popular covers to background blues/country genres.

    Matt Edmunds
    Matt Edmunds is a solo acoustic guitarist/singer with many years of on stage experience.- He offers the professionalism and experience needed to raise any event to the next level. From a wine bar to a stadium this guy has got it covered, just ask the crew and audience of the- Melbourne Grand Prix or the folks at The Australian Tennis Open – Matt has been a return performer to both of these vents for many years. He is equally at home playing a house party and if you want to shock your friends then sit them down while he takes off Neil Diamond to a T! His extensive set list leans toward the all time classics, although his passion to please everyone has seen his repertoire expand to cover something for everyone.-  He exhibits a brand of talent that has secured him work all over the world, not to mention an international recording contract with Universal Music Denmark.     Matthew Ives and his Big Band
    The Big Band was formed as a result of Matthew needing a practical outlet to contextualise his PhD project. Matthew’s project is looking at the way Buddy Rich interacted with the arranged parts of a big band arrangement. As a result, the band debuted at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music’s recital hall on July 9, 2010. Recently, the big band has performed at the Glenorchy City Council’s “˜Jazz in the Park’ at Tolosa Park, the “˜Clarence Jazz Festival’ on the Bellerive Boardwalk, the Leisure Inn Hobart Macquarie, and the Fern Tree Tavern. The repertoire of the big band is primarily chosen from the Buddy Rich Big Band chart list and consists of arrangements with titles such as Love For Sale, Wave, Big Swing Face, Groovin’ Hard, and Keep the Customer Satisfied. The band is now able to reprise big band vocals standards such as I’ve Got You Under My Skin (ala Frank Sinatra) and Cheek to Cheek (ala Ella Fitzgerald).

    Mazala
    MAZALA is a trio consisting of Alan Welsh (guitar), Roman Astra ( sitar, Indian violin) and Umesh Pratap (tabla). Mazala present a spicy musical experience you won’t forget. Alan Welsh is at home with most Guitar styles there are. He blends all those into his musical language locking rhythms with Umesh Pratap on Tabla. Umesh is a master percussionist from Fiji. Above those float the sounds of Roman Astra on Sitar and Indian violin adding another exotic flavour to the offering.   Alan Welsh was born in Malaysia and grew up with Middle Eastern and Eastern music around him, while studying the guitar. He later moved to the UK, lived and performed in Perth/Australia and now lives in Hobart. He holds several diplomas and degrees in music education and performance. Alan has performed solo and in professional groups over the years and has earned himself a respected name in the Tasmanian community. Roman Astra grew up in Vienna /Austria learning piano and guitar and eventually was drawn to the sitar and Eastern music. On his way to Australia he stayed in Madras for a while to advance his knowledge and skills on this instrument. Roman has been part of Tasmania’s music scene since 1988 performing solo and with various ensembles. He always aims to mix sounds and styles from all around the World, depending on the background of his fellow musicians. This has taken him to many local and national festivals presenting eclectic Tasmanian groups. Umesh Pratap grew up in Fiji where he absorbed the music and rhythms of his culture and eventually was awarded the title of Master drummer. He has been teaching the rhythms of the table for many years and has been performing in many ensembles. He has been working and creating with Roman for over ten years now.

    MC – Andy Gall
    Andy Gall was born and raised in the UK in a city that boasted the tallest building in the world for three hundred years….Lincoln! He spent 10 years in Cambridge working for the BBC as the breakfast radio host interviewing a cast of Australian alumni along the way, including Clive James (lived two streets down from me) Germaine Greer and Barry Humphries along with a couple of local notable Stephen’s….Hawking and Fry! Andy moved to Australia in 2013 and began working for the ABC hosting the breakfast program in regional South Australia before moving to Tasmania in search of light rain in 2016. He is currently work for ABC radio Hobart as a reporter and presenter.

    Colin is a veteran of local and interstate theatre, having performed musical theatre for over twenty years. Recently performing as part of the cast of Billy Elliott The Musical in both Sydney and Melbourne seasons, and gaining a position in the cast of Jekyll & Hyde to tour South Korea, Colin has worked extensively as a professional musical theatre performer. As part of the touring comedy duo The Red Hot Cols, Colin has performed their unique character based comedy at corporate functions and conferences at venues all around Australia. Colin’s background in Old Time Music Hall makes him an awesome Master of Ceremonies and his ability as a musical mimic ensures that while he is alive, Tom Jones and Elvis will never die.     MC – Jane Longhurst
    Jane hails from Hobart and has worked extensively in theatre, television and radio since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts. Her television credits include Rosehaven, Death or Liberty, Blue Heelers, GP, Janus, The Flying Doctors, Neighbours and A Country Practice.-  Jane has performed for Melbourne Theatre Company, at La Mama, with various independent theatre companies within Melbourne, HotHouse Theatre in Albury Wodonga and in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the Royal Botanical Gardens of Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. Now based in Tasmania Jane’s recent theatre credits include The Mares written by Kate Mulvany for Tasmanian Theatre Company; Hamlet (Blue Cow Theatre); e baby (Tasmanian Theatre Company) and You and Me and the Space Between (Terrapin Puppet Theatre) both for 2017 Ten Days on the Island, Grounded, (for which Jane was awarded the 2016 Tasmanian Theatre Award for Best Performance by a Female) and the premiere and return seasons of The State of the Tasmanian Economy for Blue Cow Theatre. Jane played Martha in the Tasmanian Theatre Company production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? staged in the Esmond Dorney House for two sold out seasons. This production was awarded a 2015 Tasmanian Theatre Award for Best Ensemble (professional category). Jane works regularly as a voice over artist, presents concerts with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra throughout Tasmania and can be heard regularly on ABC Local Radio where she also works as a fill in presenter for Local Radio including ABC Rural, ABC Grandstand and ABC Classic FM. Since returning to Hobart to live with her family Jane has hosted events big and small and facilitated numerous conferences for clients including Department of Health (Tasmania); WorkSafe Tasmania and the Foster Carer’s Association.

Day Ambassador has had a remarkable journey transitioning from an everyday tradie into a well-respected and purpose-driven public speaker.   Mitch leads with an extraordinary vision for change, courageously harnessing his lived experience of loss to encourage our community to speak up about their mental health and take action. Since the loss of his younger brother Ty in 2013, Mitch has dedicated his life to helping, educating and encouraging others to speak up about mental health and prevent suicide.
